Surviving the Drought..

These reminders were being handed out by youngsters during Carnival. As I'm writing the sun's shining in a startlingly blue sky and it's warm enough to wear light weight clothes. This isn't unusual for Nice at this time of year; what is unusual is that it's been like this for 2 years and more than a drop of rain would be welcome.
According to the advice given:
no watering after 10 am.
Take a shower, not a bath
Harvest rain water.
Don't wash your car.
Repair leaks
Don't leave water running.
In what ways is your city working to curb water wastage?
I've just returned from spending 4 days with my mother in Wales where it rained and rained...

In Spain it's the same. This summer was very dramatic, at least it has been rained in the outumn, but not enough!
And they don't stop building golf places! That makes me mad!

It's amazing to see how people become concerned with water wastage when there is a drought. At least is a good way to draw the attention to how vital water is...

Here in Southwest Florida, we must conserve water to survive (100% of our water supply comes from rainwater). We use reclaimed water on everything non-essential. Still, during drought years, we hurt...
Now, if we could only divert some rain from Wales ;-)

Ah, yes, wouldn't rain be welcome. What do I do to conserve water? I have large water butts collecting rain from every available roof area. I shower, not bath. I garden with plants that only need Spring and Autumn rains and if they don't make it, tant pis! But I do bath dogs...

Welcome back Angela!

Missed you. Jilly x

I know what you mean about those emerald green golf courses. We have a few here too though they do contribute to the local econony.

Thanks, Jilly. I'm glad to be back..

Yikes! Just goes to show how we sometimes take things for granted. I remember visiting family friends in San Francisco many years ago when they had the same problem. It was a pain because we had to take quick showers and save the water from the shower (trapped in the tub) to flush toilets.

that is a cute water drop cartoon - strange that it can be dry for soooo long! Two years?! It would be great if there was a way where you could share resources like rain with Wales! We had record rains last year and quite a dry year this year!

It's raining and raining here in Aveyron and they're already preparing for the drought...??? Nobody can believe it, but I guess it's a sign of the times.
