Almost Nice: Grasse 1

Grasse, as probably everyone knows, is or was the home of the perfume industry. Nowadays perfumes and flavourings are usually synthetic so where there used to be fields of roses and jasmine we now see gleaming factories.
This is a fairly standard view from the Cours Fragonard looking past the Fragonard perfume factory and museum towards the Cathedral. Standard it may be but that doesn't prevent it from being lovely...

Grasse is still the home of the perfume industry. I belong to an American message board devoted to perfume; most members dream of going on a pilgrimage to Grasse.

There is a hotel that offers lectures and workshops on perfume as part of a package. If anyone is interested, I can post details here (if you don't mind, Angela).

I'm curious: what did the place smell like when you were there?
