At The Post Office

Queues and post offices seem to go together like peaches and cream. No matter where you live there is never enough staff and the clients are left huffing and puffing and shuffling their feet in the queue.
Now in Nice they've approached the problem sideways: appointing new personnel is obviously expensive so, instead, install a soft drinks machine and air conditioning and queuing becomes less of a nuisance. In fact with a couple of comfortable chairs and some reading material posting letters would be a positive pleasure!

I think that clever people are thinking creatively! I wouldn't mind waiting in those surroundings. Thanks for your visit to my blog and your well wishes. I feel tops now; must be the good Southwest air in Santa Fe, where we are currently vacationing.

Funny you should mention it. I stood in line at my post office for far too long today. With 7 people in line they closed 1 of the 2 lines for unknown reasons. A drink machine wouldn't have made me any happier or patient, unless it was cold Chardonnay. I know this sounds negative , but the indifference to customer service here is inexcusable. As a footnote, when I was in Paris last, an employee at the post office was so very helpful and fed the stamp machine so that I could purchase 18 stamps for postcards for my students in the US. Without her help I would have been totally lost. I was very appreciative.

Maybe you could suggest they add a massage parlor, or hair stylist.

Or waitresses !!

Most Adelaide Post Offices are privately owned franchises of Australia Post. I always go to the smaller ones where I am well known.
I'll get my new passport photos tomorrow at the Post Office. I think it will take but a few minutes, says he, hopefully !

A great idea, this would make standing in the queu more tolerable!
