"femme qui sort de la terre"

I've been feeling definitely out of sorts, either picked up a bug or have been eating "not wisely but too well" but today I'm back on the road albeit in a lethargic way...
This is the Nicole Brousse sculpture from a different angle as I tried to include as much of the figures and as little of the cord as possible. Impossible. I understand why the rope was necessary but its presence did spoil my enjoyment. The Parc Phoenix programme calls this "femme qui sort de la terre" (woman coming out of the ground) which seems nicely apt. The artist, however, calls the piece "L'infini" using a quotation from Blake: "If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite." Love the sculpture, love the quotation...
Just in case you didn't know, the group The Doors took their name from this quotation too.

Very nice!

If you want to participate in September's theme day (Twin Cities) and you need a picture of Edinburgh, let me know what kind you'd like and I'll snap something for you!

Best wishes

Thank you for this new picture with another angle wich help to understand the complete sculpture.

As the ropes don't actually prevent access they might have done better to rope off a rather larger area around that didn't restrict the view too much.

ah well

elle est vraiment superbe cette sculpture, et très originale, j'adore.
Elle me fait penser à "alice au pays des merveilles"

The ground is very soft in Nice, watch your step.
Does the rope really keep people from treading through the sculpture area? The white & green together are very pretty.
Glad you are feeling better!

I love all these photos. That quote is superb, and I didn't know that about the Doors! Too bad the rope has to surround the sculptures; I'm sure the artist didn't envision that.

I agree with Ackworth born: those ropes look awful where they are and cut the impact of the artwork, which is very original!...

Still a little weirded out with this sculpture. Not sure I appreciate it as much as all the other sculpture you have shown us. I do however like the playful idea that was intended. Maybe it's the ropes.

Love the sculpture, love the quote, love the references. I could speculate that this scultpure is the Return of the Divine Feminine into our consciousness. :-)

Si vous voulez une photo sans les cordes autour de la sculpture, ce qui, en effet, s'oppose à l'idée de départ qui est la liberté totale, dites moi comment vous la faire parvenir.
