Madonna in Nice
The Material Girl paid a visit to Nice this week and as you can see she certainly wowed the crowds. 49,000 people turned up to see what was touted as the first "proper" concert of this tour..though I'm not sure what that made the first concert in Cardiff.
According to our local radio station she looked like an 18 year old, was toned and lovely. My son took one look at that photo and said, "She shouldn't be wearing clothes like that at her age" I won't bore you with the details of the debate that followed...but, oh the intolerance of youth.
Did I go? The queues for the car park alone would have put me off. But I do regret missing Eric Clapton who played at the Sporting Club in Monaco at the weekend.
PS Just to add that the queue thing didn't apply to Clapton and, yes, I would have queued for the guitar god. He played at the Sporting Club in Monaco, a sort of very swish night club where you're entertained while eating dinner. They have some class acts there in a fairly intimate setting, seats about 400 I believe. Any chance of a photo, Jilly?

Hi Angela
Yes I'd really like a picture of Nice - I'll try and get you something that combines flowers and sculpture - and I'd love some public art in return!
Best wishes

I'd say that your son has got it roughly right, as indeed have you ref Eric Clapton.
Tks for dropping in on RuT.
For 50 she looks great. I would love to see her, but I dont think shes coming to Dallas. I was in my early 20s when she debuted. HOT.
Well let me just say it takes a lot of nerve for someone in my shape to critique Madonna, but I will! Great legs, but that upper arm looks like a chicken wing. As we age, we have to remember that just because you COULD wear it in the past, doesn't mean you SHOULD wear it now.
Angela,
I think the more precise sentiment would be to express one's regret at missing SEEING Madonna and missing HEARING Eric Clapton.
Thank you for the compliment that you left regarding the photo I posted on my site today.
I enjoy your site and have been to Nice, although we stayed in Cap d'Ail right next to Monaco on one trip and Cannes on another. My father spent time in Nice as a U.S. Naval officers right after World War II.
Hmmmm - lots of negative comments in Nice-Matin this morning, Angela. As for E Clapton, I so agree. Decided to go in January, didn't buy tickets in time and then all gone. Duh? In the end I heard some of it on Fireworks night in Monaco. Someone there phoned thru on her portable phone! Second hand...next time, we'll go together. Yes?
The older I become, the less patirnce I have for queues. You're never to old to have a good time at thse concerts. Eric Clapton would have been worth the wait.
Could vs. should, seeing vs. s
hearing - Great points Virginia and David!
Would have love to have seen and heard Eric Clapton, and would have waited in line! Might not have minded missing Madge.
Clapton - oh yeah, I'd go.
Madonna - (yawn)
Thanks for bringing us the story.
Madonna no to the music, no to her man thing look. No objections to her not dressing her age( guilty as charged) but ditch the butch look.
Clapton, now there's a bloke I would queue round the block for starting from here.
No objection to wear sexy clothes if it's not ridiculous...and Madonna is not....and I remember to see Tina Turner in her last tour, she was also sexy dressed and not ridiculous at all.
je préfère Clapton à miss madonna, mais faut avouer qu'elle a une peche d'enfer.
OOOOHHHH Lordy, Tina TURner is another story altogether. She is the exception to the rule for sure. She's amazing.
If you've got it, flaunt it!
Hi Angela - that is pretty amazing - at 50 years old, she looks really good!! She has definitely not slowed down one bit! And as for your question, the paddle is not quite round, but squarish with rounded corers so it was the angle of the shot that appeared as such. Hope you have a wonderful week!
