Lady in Red

I really wanted this lady to be more central but she was walking at such a fair pace I had a job keeping up. In the end I gave up and just took the photo...

We're on Place Massena here which was renovated during the tramway project. The fountain is called Fontaine du Soleil and used to sport a 7 metre statue of Apollo in all his naked glory. However it was felt that the public wouldn't be able to cope with the sheer excitement of it all and he was removed. And just in case you're imagining victorian style city fathers; this took place in the 1970's!

The red is an interesting contrast to the bluish-grey of the plaza. Nice image!

Gosh, it has changed! So long since we've been down now that we haven't seen the new tram running. Last year, our last visit, we never made it to Nice, even...

C'est la reine sur son échiquier ?
J'aurais poussé le luxe jusqu'à prendre une ombrelle rouge

This is a beautiful photo and an equally beautiful setting. I echo Virginia's comment about Apollo. I would have thought that kind of censoring only happened in America.

I agree with Virginia; can't believe the French were prudish about poor Appollo. I like this photo, even if Appollo isn't there.

The lady in red off to one side is just right. Honestly better than central. I had many a baguette by that fountain. Censored Apollo. Thatt's quite schocking for France.

was Apollo exceptionally "glorious"? I really like the hint of lady-in-red at the edge of your photo.

Perhaps they have not seen David inside the Ufizzi Gallery in Florence?

Beatutiful photo. I too find moving subjects frustrating to capture how I want it. In the end, your image is perfect! I noticed how the Lady in Red with her cart is following the dark diagonal.
