The Solex 2

You know that thing about waiting hours for a number 10 bus then 3 turn up together, it was a little like that with the Solex. Having had the iconic nature of the machine pointed out to me, all I saw for the next few days were Solex and you wouldn't believe the number of emails I received from people who have fond memories of the beast. Of course, before the scooter became popular, the solex was the mode of transport of choice of non drivers and adolescents.

I've been having a look at the various websites and discovered that the Solex will do an amazing 214 miles to the gallon which, if the price of petrol goes up again makes it a very interesting proposition. Anyway I'll give you the link to the American site and the British one.

It's amazing what you learn taking photos..

That's always the way, isn't it? Great photo; love the flowers.

These were popular (mopeds) in the 80's. Mostly we'd see immigrants collecting aluminum cans on them, or teens.
My friend across the street from me had one and I'd borrow it on occassion to drive across town to see my boyfriend (now husband) I shudder now to think how dangerous this was!

And always fun to learn something new from each other.

How do you get your photos to show up as large photos on your blog?
