From the Sublime..

..to the less sublime.
Imagine yourself living in an apartment block in this street. You put your head out of the window, look north and you have an amazing view of the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, an explosion of colour in the sunlight.
Look south, however, you have a less stunning view of the main line railway that links us to points East and West and above it the voie rapide, the fast through road. Both are highly useful adjuncts to a busy life but don't cut the mustard aesthetically speaking.
So, would you buy an apartment on this street?

Wow...your title is perfect! I din't know this nice expression "to cut the mustard" (like many English expressions anyway!), thank you!

elle est vraiment très belle et puis elle semble immense, tu as des photos de l'intérieure ? (a cote d'Evry, il y a une très belle église orthodoxe, mais les photos sont interdites)

Hmmm...I see what you mean. I'd love the view of the cathedral, the other view not so much.

I would feel confined regardless of the views. Great set of pictures putting me right into the scene.

I wouldn't mind it aesthetically but suspect I might find it a bit too noisy.

I prefer the North view!

May be if I have money but love to stay in any apartment there for 2-3 days.

Alice: I've looked for the origins of the expression but they seem very vague.

Yes, as Gerald pointed out this was a noisy spot even on a Saturday morning.

Your photo of the cathedral yesterday is fantastic! That would be a magnificent view from one's home. Any properties on the other side of the cathedral away from all this transportation? :)

Facsinating to compare the two views. Nice reall is a tale of two cities when you start comparing the old and new. I'd stiil rather be in there though. Perhaps not the noisy bit though.

An apartment in Nice ? Yes, I sign imediatly. Double glazing in the North side.
Even if situated near the Cathedral we're far away from the sea. The new tram is there to remedy.
