An Urban Landscape

Son's school lies on the edge of Les Moulins, an estate of HLM: an acronym for Habitation de Loyer Moderee or state subsidised housing and like every area of subsidised housing in every city it has high rates of poverty and unemployment.
During the riots in 2005 it was a centre of unrest and helicopters flew nightly overhead shining spotlights down on the inhabitants and tourists are warned to keep away from the area which has nothing to offer the casual sightseer.

It's so interesting to read about a city from the perspective of a resident. You see parts and tell stories that a tourist would never see or hear about. Thanks, Angela.
