Sunday Morning 5

A party for Olivier whose birthday it is...joyeux anniversaire, Olivier, de la part de la ville de Nice et sa photo quotidienne...

I took this over a week ago when temperatures were up in the 20s. Yesterday it was cold as we experienced the same cold front that's affecting the rest of Europe.
I'm still very ambivalent about monochrome but I rather liked it here as it emphasised the geometry of the bench. I'm pretty sure that it was the same bench that Lady with the Great Hair was sitting on.

A perfect birthday wish! I love the bench, too. I've been chained to my desk, and haven't been much evident in the blogging world.

How lovely of you to present Olivier with a birthday champagne and cake!

And yes, I think you're right--the second photo looks stunning emphasized this way.

Cheers & Happy Birthday to Olivier.
I like the many horizontal lines in the 2nd photo with the shadow of the bench and the breakwater(?) on the horizon.
The Lady with Grt Hair has the same color hair as the birds in the previous day's post. Thought that was good continuity. :)

Goodness I was just craving yet one more glass of champagne and something, anything French to go with. Now I can do it for our dear Olivier's birthday! Also love this great BW bench. Good choice!

You were so right to do this is mono. he simplicity of the subject and the geomertry is emphasied. You are right though, not all images should be in mono- it doesn't make every photo a classic. This though is.
