Let it Snow...

just nowhere near me..

There's no way I can get up to the snow right now with Christmas looming large on the horizon so I asked Josh if I could share some of his photos. This was taken 2 weeks ago at Isola 2000, a ski station around a 40 minute drive from Nice, depending on who's driving, at 2000metres altitude.
When I first arrived here I had absolutely no idea that the area wasn't just the coast but the alps as well hiding a number of small ski stations. When the children were small we used to religiously head up every weekend there was snow and fasten everybody into their snowsuits, struggle with the ski bindings and herd them up the lifts. Now, of course, they whizz off with their mates and leave me to do what I do best: the apres-ski

More about Nice and its ski stations tomorrow.

Looked like a lovely place to ski. Lucky you. We dont have snow over here (no four seasons) but do visit for sweet Christmas in Singapore.

When I think about Nice, I certainly don't think about skiing only 40 or so minutes away!

Great shots. Thanks Josh. I like apres ski or think I would. No snow here!

Hard to believe so close to the sea but true!

Isola sounded familiar but turned out not to be. I did look up Isola 2000 & the site said it's 1 hour (IN GOOD WEATHER CONDITIONS) from Nice's airport. That's closer than mountains by LA. Looks like fun at "la station 100% neige et soleil" was had by all!

winter snow is quite exciting for a little while. Then it wears on, and we begin to wish for spring.
