Carnival

It's that time of year again; we're in the run up to Lent and Carnival started last Saturday with a battle of the flowers on the Promenade des Anglais. I missed that one but was there on Sunday to watch the grand parade of the floats bearing the huge characters. This year's theme is Masquerades so all the characters were wearing or carrying masks....

This is the Queen of the Carnival. I suppose I should have started with His Majesty the King but, you know, I much preferred her; she looks like a Disney princess and I half expected her to burst into song..

Carnaval, O yes that exists, in my part of the world we don't celebrate carnaval. There is some but I always forget it is there.

I have a link to your blog tomorrow. I made a picture of the Orthodox Church of The Hague. It can't be compared in anyway the marvelous example in your street...

Same here — I actually thought it was a Snow White lookalike :D

Love hte bright, cheerful colors! And how you caught the ferris wheel in the background.

Your carnival sounds so exciting! All we get is Lent — no fat Tuesday.

Really like the Disney parade. With the Ferris wheel on top of that.
Wonderful colored picture. You had a good place Angela, to avoid other viewers. I know it's not easy in that crowd.
