Carnival:The Floats

I've just been pondering the shocking story of Sir Alan Stanford, the banking tycoon at the heart of yet another fraud so my choice of today's photo is somewhat topical. Traditionally the carnival floats can have political/satirical themes; this one depicts a fat cat capitalist enjoying the good life while people starve, note the emaciated figures to the front.

superbe marionnette, on dirait le roi du commerce.

Great photo, Angela. It's just so shocking, isn't it? How can they have done all this AND apparently gotten away with it?

Very apt, Angela! I love the blueness of it all, the blue figures and the blue sky.

This looks like a wonderous parade. It would seem the big criminals are bankers and politicians.

It's not quite satirical, no ? Except for the blue, it's real life, Angela. And so funny !

Very topical. For just about any place in the world. Especially the U.S., I'm ashamed to say!

This reminds me of Gary's illustrations, re the fat cats.
Great series of images . You have made this even come to life for me having only read about it before.

No Angela, I haven't gone yet to watch the Carnival. We arrived on Friday evening, then during the week-end we stayed in Menton.
Maybe tomorrow, or on tuesday, will go to Nice. I'll tell you.

I hadn't heard that Stanford was 'Sir Alan', but this float certainly fits everything that I have heard about him. Great picture.
