Wrought Iron.

I have absolutely no idea what these are called; it's a wrought iron decoration placed on a wall that's head height. My guess is that it's there to discourage the uninvited from climbing over the wall. Whether it works I don't know but I think it's rather attractive just to look at.

on en trouve beaucoup dans les vieilles écoles et lycées, c'était aussi pour empêcher les élèves de faire le mur. on dirait le palmier se trouve en prison.

That's only to allow you to make a wonderful picture ..........for Sky Watch ! Oh! no, sorry wer're not Friday : )

My word verification is "arived" !?! (with just one letter more) I wonder how do they know ?

We have something similar on the pier, but not as ornate. I agree with Catherine, sneak back in for skywatch. It really does pierce that true blue sky.

They don't seem like they'd be very effective as a barrier do they. But then, they look much nicer than razor wire.

You photographed this security grate very well. This kind of guard is all over Mexico in one form or another and they are effective.

Really attractive to look at. People who want to know whether it is to prevent trespassing should give it a try :)

Even security should be artistic.
