The Promenade Des Anglais
The Promenade des Anglais, the long, treelined dual carriageway that hugs the sea was originally built with financial contributions from the British who liked to drive up and down in their carriages. I wonder if they'd approve of it now.
It's one of the main highways into the city from the West and, thus, is often clogged with traffic. Since the local council introduced a 50km speed limit and synchronised the traffic lights the traffic does at least move smoothly.
I've just read that there are plans to push the traffic through tunnels under the sea and turn the road into a pedestrian area. Pretty ambitious but it will look great if it happens.
